The Maga family relationship with the Santa Clarita valley dates back to the 1920’s when families homesteaded both sides of Soledad Cyn Rd., East and West of Golden Valley Road and at Sand Canyon and Placerita Canyon. Frank’s father Peter received a fine education at the old schoolhouse on Sand Canyon. With help of Grandfather Joe Baudino, Uncle Don Guglielmino established Newhall Hardware in 1947. Family members still own the property on Market and Main Street.

Frank graduated from USC with BSCE, MSCE & ECE in Civil Engineering and Structural Mechanics. He is an Engineer in Civil Engineering also a licensed Mechanical Engineer. He operated a private practice consulting to multinational corporations for 25 years while editing and publishing an international journal on computer methods in engineering mechanics. He now spends his time as an asset manager and working with OTNA to help restore Old Town Newhall.

Hi, my name is Terry Carberry, Vice Chairman of the Old Town Newhall Association (OTNA). My wife LaVonne and I have lived in Santa Clarita for over thirty-five years. We have four boys who all attended schools in Canyon Country. Our Grand Children are currently attending schools in Canyon Country.

After working twenty-two years for a large aircraft manufacturer, my wife and I started an environmental consulting business in Canyon Country in 1988, Carberry and Associates. In October of 2000 we purchased an office building in Newhall and moved our business into it in November 2000. We occupy suite 201, and we have eight other office suites that we lease. Before purchasing the building we attended a meeting with the Director of Planning for the City of Santa Clarita. After describing to us the plans the City has for Newhall, he advised us to join the Newhall Redevelopment Advisory Committee and/or OTNA

We joined OTNA in 2001 because we thought that would be the best way to participate in the redevelopment process. I have held other positions on the Board of OTNA and I am currently the Vice Chairman. Both of us have served on the Promotions Committee and for the past two years LaVonne has served as the Promotions Committee Chairperson for OTNA’s annual fundraiser, The Silver Horseshoe Saloon. We are proud of what OTNA has contributed to the redevelopment of Newhall and we plan to keep working with the City and other Old Town Newhall Merchants to accomplish what we envision Old Town Newhall to be in the future.

Larry is 60 years old, was born in Iowa, and grew up in South Dakota. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Augustana College. Larry has been a resident of Newhall for 30 years. He has been a member of Santa Clarita Lions for 29 years. Larry is also a founding member of the Newhall Redevelopment Committee, and a founding member of the Old Town Newhall Association. In his free time he is an avid scuba diver and has been happily married 35 years to Sue Ann Bird.
